Believe it or not, I never had any friends who chose dolls based on similarities in looks. I think they tended to choose dolls they *wanted* to be like, but not ones they *were* like
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I had three friends who had AGs when I was little. Including me, there were 3 Samantha's, and an AGT. All three of us that had Samantha had brown hair (although one of my friends and me had lighter hair, whereas the other had Sam's color), and brown/hazel eyes. And the friend I had with the AGT had the one that looked like her- light brown hair, blue eyes.

I picked Samantha out of the catalogue, and read her books before asking for her for Christmas. And I just knew I had to have her first. The AGTs were already out, but I was sold on Samantha.

My second doll, in 1996, was, indeed, the one who looked like I'd always wanted to look- red haired (really it was auburn, boo!), green eyed AGT. I was the only one of my friends to have more than one doll, (and I won Josefina a year later).

I really think it depends on the kid, but if Sam had had red hair and green eyes, I would have wanted her 1,000 times more. I also think if I had read all the girls' books before getting a doll, I would have gotten Felicity second instead of the AGT. I didn't read Lissie's books until the end of 1996, and by then I didn't buy another doll until 2004.

I read Addy's series second (actually at the same time as Samantha's), and I think if I had ever bought another doll when I was little, it probably would have been Addy. But, I'll be getting her next year at AGPLA!

Yeah, red hair isn't too common. My mom had told me that I should buy Felicity b/c I have red hair and greenish/hazelish eyes. I also have glasses, but I love felicity! I hadn't really read her books when I bought her- I got them for xmas a the same year I bought her. But I love her the most! And Kirsten is my 2nd fave. I don't think they should have gotten rid of Felicity in the catalogs in 2000. And I'm glad they brought her back!

I have no clue. Lissie is so beautiful. She is extra special to me because my grandma bought her for me before she died.

Her old collection is exquisite, I wish I had bought more before they retired and then Barbie-ized her.

Now, maybe it was the dress. . . my mom and grandma, I recall, were so shocked I wanted her because they thought her dress looked like ugly old wallpaper! They thought Lissie was homely as can be.

I remember my sister got Addy the same year and everyone oohed and aaahed over Addy while Lissie and I sat in a corner together.

Lissie always appealed to me...party because of my extreme love for horses when I was little. I rode ever since I was six and I would always want Felicity...but strangely...never got her. I wasn't the kind of child who would tell her parents what she wanted, either. When I first got into AG, my mom picked Samantha for me because she liked all the frilly clothes and fancy chinaware. She wasn't who I REALLY wanted but I didn't want to say anything, so I didn't speak up. And I didn't get another AG doll until Nellie. Recently I bought myself a PM Lissie because I was feeling like I was missing part of my childhood. I regret not asking for her a lot but atleast now I have the doll I've always wanted!!! I'm not sure either. Felicity is one of my favorite dolls and I love her time period. Since she is from such an important time period I would have thought she would be more popular.

I didn't read the books before I got my first doll, which was Samantha. I really liked Kirsten the best, but...I got Samanatha because we had the same eye and hair color.
